The new OFSTED framework for inspections, introduced in September 2009, is significantly different from the previous one. Using the latest information available, this course will give you a clear understanding of the new framework, its key points and advice on how to prepare for your next inspection. There will be an emphasis on the key aspects of the school inspected by OFSTED, including outcomes, provision and leadership and management. There will also be clear advice on how to use the new evaluation schedule to complete the latest self-evaluation form (SEF) to a high standard and how to grade lessons according to the four point scale.

Speakers

Andrew Lagden currently works as an independent educational consultant, and as a school inspector. Additionally he works as a consultant in a number of initiatives, including the specialist and trust schools programmes and delivers high quality leadership training for educational organisations. Andrew is also an NCSL accredited school improvement partner (SIP) for seven secondary schools. Previously, he spent 19 years in the secondary sector, successfully managing new education initiatives.

Debbie Bird currently works as an independent educational consultant, and as an NCSL accredited school improvement partner (SIP) working with 15 primary schools. Debbie delivers high quality leadership training and is an accredited NCSL consultant. Previously she worked for Inclusive School Improvement Services in Suffolk for 14 years and latterly was area lead primary adviser. During this time she worked with a variety of schools ranging from those deemed to require special measures to very successful schools and from those in rural circumstances to those serving a deprived town community. She was a headteacher of two schools, both with nurseries.
